The Lighthouse has been part of Cleveland’s history for more than 100 years.

1879
The Pier Hotel was built. By the mid 1880’s was firmly established as one of Cleveland’s best-known businesses.
1920
The Cleveland Pier Kiosk was built next to the 1887 jetty, western side of Cleveland Point.
1936
The Pier Hotel on the tip of Cleveland Point burnt down, taking with it the remains of one of the district’s first permanent European buildings.
1939
The Cleveland Kiosk was re-built on the old Pier Hotel location.
1980's
Known as Markwell’s Restaurant
1986
A few more owners and facelifts later, it was renamed the Lighthouse
2006
New ownership. Massive Lighthouse renovation. Reopened 31st December 2006
2018
The Lighthouse is a testament to its time. Operating 7 days a week from our Restaurant, Cafe and Takeaway.

The food is absolutely amazing, the seafood is fresh and is very good quality. The Restaurant has such a lovely atmosphere but if you can’t get a table grab fish and chips from the takeaway and have a picnic in the park, you won’t be disappointed.
